Upgrades and retrofits for HALT/HASS chambers
Hanse upgrades its own chambers and retrofits other makers' HALT/HASS chambers, including Qualmark, Screening Systems and Thermotron, when controllers, vibrators or LN2 control are obsolete or limiting.
Which chambers we upgrade
Hanse upgrades and retrofits HALT/HASS chambers from these makers:
- Hanse
- Qualmark
- Screening Systems
- Thermotron
On a Hanse chamber, an upgrade is part of supporting every chamber Hanse has built: see support for every Hanse chamber.
A modern interface for an older chamber
A controls upgrade gives an older chamber the same browser-based control as a new Hanse chamber. ChamberCore, Hanse’s control software, runs on the chamber; operators open a web browser on the floor, at a desk or across the lab, with nothing to install on their computers. The chamber is easy to reach wherever it sits in your facility.
ChamberCore talks to the chamber’s controller rather than replacing it. If the chamber already has a Watlow F4T, F4D or F4S, a Future Design MCT-B or a Tidal Engineering Synergy controller, ChamberCore works with it as it is; otherwise the upgrade fits a Watlow F4T. It runs HALT/HASS, thermal cycling, humidity and burn-in tests, on a Hanse chamber or on another maker’s.
What the upgrade adds:
- ChamberControl, profiles and live control: build and edit test profiles in the browser with live graphing, or import the profiles already on your controller; drive setpoints live, with air and product (cascade) control; deviation and limit alarms with an acknowledgment workflow and full history; heat, cool, vibration, humidity, purge and fans follow the running test step by step.
- Logging that is always on: chamber data records continuously from start-up, so a forgotten “start logging” click can never cost you a test.
- ChamberDAQ: product thermocouples and voltage channels on the same timeline as the chamber’s setpoint and process value, with burst capture around transitions and annotations on the trace.
- ChamberFFT: live GRMS, power spectral density, shock response spectrum and fatigue damage spectrum from accelerometers on the table.
- ChamberReport: test reports built from templates, with charts, photos, pass/fail criteria checked against the logged data, and electronic signatures. Data exports to CSV, Excel and PDF.
- ChamberHub: every chamber in the lab on one screen, with one alarm queue, fleet-wide exports, maintenance timers and remote control.
These screenshots are from the ChamberCore demo, which runs a simulated chamber. ChamberCore has a light and a dark theme.

Every action goes into an audit trail that cannot be altered, with the operator’s name on it, and the platform is built for FDA 21 CFR Part 11: electronic signatures, checksum-chained data and password policies. Alerts go out by email and in the browser when an alarm trips, a controller stops responding, a profile finishes or maintenance comes due.
The specification sheet, the manual and a live demo are on chambercore.app.
Retrofit or replace?
A HALT/HASS chamber is a fifteen-to-twenty-year asset. When what is obsolete or limiting is the controller, the vibrators or the LN2 valve, an upgrade replaces those parts and keeps the chamber, table and LN2 piping you already have. When the chamber itself no longer fits, because the table is too small for your products or you need a temperature range or vibration level it was not built for, a new chamber is the better answer, and the buyer’s guide walks through sizing one. Send us the make, model and serial number, and we can help you determine which applies.
Vacuum-jacketed LN2 valves, new and retrofitted
Hanse fits the same vacuum-jacketed proportional LN2 valves to new chambers and in retrofits.

What an upgrade can include
ChamberDAQ and ChamberFFT
ChamberDAQ is expandable data acquisition: 24 universal inputs on each Watlow F4T, more F4Ts for more inputs, plus up to eight WebDAQ modules for 128 external thermocouple channels. ChamberFFT analyzes vibration on up to 16 simultaneous IEPE accelerometer channels at 25,600 samples per second (GRMS, power spectral density, shock response spectrum and rainflow fatigue) and feeds GRMS back to the F4T for closed-loop control.
Full ChamberFFT specification →Hanse pneumatic vibrators
Hanse pneumatic vibrators fitted to the existing vibration table, on a Hanse chamber or on another maker's. LubeMist puts an adjustable ball valve on every vibrator, for low-G performance using fewer vibrators, and SoftStart minimizes starting shock to the product.
Vacuum-jacketed proportional LN2 valve
A vacuum-jacketed proportional valve in place of on/off solenoid control. An on/off solenoid dumps nitrogen to reach set point and overshoots; a proportional valve meters LN2 against demand. The result is less LN2 and a longer valve service life. The same valve is standard on Hanse's VTC-4 and TC-4 and up.
What drives LN2 consumption →Frequently asked questions
Can you upgrade a Qualmark, Screening Systems or Thermotron chamber?
Yes. Hanse has retrofitted chambers from all three makers.
What does a controller upgrade include?
ChamberCore, Hanse's browser-based control software, on the chamber's Watlow F4T, F4D or F4S, Future Design MCT-B or Tidal Engineering Synergy controller, or on a new Watlow F4T. It brings the chamber up to a modern interface: profile programming, live monitoring, always-on data logging, exports and reports. ChamberDAQ, ChamberFFT, ChamberReport and ChamberHub add data acquisition, vibration analysis, test reports and fleet control.
Can you replace the vibrators on another maker's table?
Yes, with Hanse pneumatic vibrators.
Why replace an on/off LN2 valve?
A vacuum-jacketed proportional valve meters LN2 against demand instead of dumping it to reach set point, so it uses less LN2, and the valve lasts longer.
What do you need to quote an upgrade?
The chamber's make, model and serial number, the controller it has now, and what is failing or limiting.
