Environmental test chambers for fast temperature cycling
Hanse TC environmental test chambers are temperature chambers without a vibration table: liquid-nitrogen cooled, for fast temperature cycling and thermal testing, with −100 to +200 °C (−75 to +175 °C on the TC-1.5) and a 70 °C/min product change rate* on every model, in the VTC numbering and table sizes from the TC-1.5 to the TC-32.
*Measured 4" above center of table, −65 °C to +100 °C.

The VTC thermal system, without the vibration table
A TC chamber uses the same liquid-nitrogen direct-injection cooling, SCR-controlled heaters and control system as our VTC HALT/HASS chambers. Choose a TC when you need fast thermal cycling and thermal screening but not six-degree-of-freedom vibration. If you need both in one chamber, see our HALT/HASS chambers.
TC models follow the VTC numbering: each has the interior width and depth of the VTC model with the same number, and more height, because there is no vibration table. The TC-9 ECO and TC-16 ECO have a 12 in (305 mm) lower interior. Any model can be modified to fit your product.

What every TC chamber has
Liquid-nitrogen direct injection
Direct atomization in the control plenum, with a redundant safety valve.
Zero-cross SCR heater control
Balanced nichrome wire heaters, fired by solid-state SCRs for a steady element temperature and long heater life.
Temperature control
±1 °C after stabilization, with stabilization in under 2 minutes.
Adjustable air flow plenum
Multiple 3 in ports on each side direct the airflow onto the product.
Safety
FM-approved over/under limit with its own sensor, door interlocks and emergency power off. Heaters and LN2 interlocked to the fans; three-phase supply monitored.
Control and instrumentation
The same ChamberCore control, without ChamberFFT
Watlow + ChamberCore
Watlow F4T controllers run through Hanse's ChamberCore software, the same as on the VTC HALT/HASS chambers: programmable temperature ramps and closed-loop cascade control of the product temperature, over Ethernet. Temperature profiles and the product and air readings are logged in ChamberCore.
Explore ChamberCore and the live demo →ChamberDAQ — expandable data acquisition
24 universal inputs on each Watlow F4T (thermocouple, RTD, mA, mV/V), with more F4Ts for more inputs, plus up to eight WebDAQ modules for 128 external thermocouple channels. Standard instrumentation is two Type T thermocouples, one in the control air and one for the product.
Temperature and humidity
Humidity control is an option on TC chambers, not a standard feature. The humidity option is now typically an electrode steam humidifier, such as the Condair MES2, in place of the direct water injection of earlier Hanse chambers. Its replaceable steam cylinder traps the impurities in the water, so there are no heating elements to clean and a cylinder change is quick and easy; an automatic drain flushes impurities regularly; and its integral electronics, with self-diagnostics, give precise humidity control. Ultrasonic humidification is available as an alternative. The chamber controls 10 to 85% RH from 25 to 65 °C, measured with a capacitance sensor.
For temperature, humidity and vibration in one chamber, we build combined chambers to your specification: see Built to your specification.
Options
- Extended temperature — down to −150 °C and up to +400 °C, as an option or custom build.
- Humidity — an electrode steam humidifier, or ultrasonic humidification as an alternative, 10 to 85% RH from 25 to 65 °C, with a capacitance sensor.
- More thermocouples — 14 more, for 16 monitored in all.
- Floor plug — an insulated plug that reduces the working volume.
- Anti-condensate heaters — for the door, windows and outer surfaces.
- LN2 system — complete installation, piping and controls.
- Vibration — upgrade the chamber later with a 6-DoF vibration kit (VK) fitted inside it, add a standalone vibration table, or choose a VTC chamber.
Warranty and support
- 1-year equipment warranty from shipment: parts and labor for the first 90 days, then parts at no cost other than travel.
- Supported for the long term — including controller retrofits for older systems.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a TC and a VTC chamber?
A TC (Thermal Chamber) has no vibration table. It uses the same liquid-nitrogen direct-injection cooling, SCR-controlled heaters and ChamberCore control as a VTC (Vibration Thermal Chamber), which adds six-degree-of-freedom vibration in the same chamber for HALT and HASS. TC models follow the VTC numbering: each has the interior width and depth of the VTC model with the same number, and more height. Choose a TC for fast thermal cycling and thermal screening without vibration.
What temperature range and change rate does a TC chamber reach?
Every TC model reaches a 70 °C/min product change rate*. The TC-4 to TC-32 run −100 to +200 °C; the TC-1.5 runs −75 to +175 °C as standard, with −100 to +200 °C optional. Extended temperature down to −150 °C and up to +400 °C is available as an option or custom build, and control is ±1 °C after stabilization. *Measured 4" above center of table, −65 °C to +100 °C.
Can a TC chamber control humidity?
Yes, as an option, not as standard: the humidity option, now typically an electrode steam humidifier, with ultrasonic humidification as an alternative, controls 10 to 85% RH from 25 to 65 °C, measured with a capacitance sensor. Combined temperature, humidity and vibration chambers are available as custom builds; see Built to your specification on our home page.
Can a TC chamber be upgraded to vibration later?
Yes. A TC chamber is built without a vibration table, but it can be upgraded later: a Hanse VK (Vibration Kit), a 6-DoF vibration table with its pneumatic actuators, is fitted into the chamber, so temperature and six-degree-of-freedom vibration run in the same chamber for HALT and HASS. You can also use a standalone 6-DoF vibration table alongside it, or choose a VTC chamber from the start. Tell us about your chamber and what you need to test, and we will suggest the right route.
